Re: [RC] Garmin Forerunner & VV Rides - Don Huston

Hello Angie,

The Forerunner 201 uses a "cradle" the 205 does not. Shannon did not remember which one she had so I mentioned it.

I upgraded because the free account would only show me the last 10 rides I uploaded. Is the free account still that way? You have uploaded 25 tracks. Can you access all of them?

You are right about viewing in GE. You can zoom in and find all kinds of possible trails.

I don't know what the "cradle" is...I just started a Motion Based account (free one but I'm thinking of moving up) and then hook up the cable and turn on the GPS. Hardest part for me was realizing my rides were under the "Activities" button...not "Inbox". I've just discovered I can then view them in Google Earth. WHAT FUN!!

Here's how it looks when you download a ride. Here's my ride from this Saturday.  http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/7549034

Underneath the square on the right with the map (if it comes up) click Google Earth and then you can really have fun. :-)  We're still having to train at home so here's what 10 miles around my house Saturday looked like...it's the blue. The red trails are other days I've ridden in the area. Anybody who wants to see some of the Longstreet Trail can pan out and go about 20 miles south and see tracks from there I've downloaded. Google Earth has gotten so interesting...I spend all my time panning around looking for old road beds that I can search out for trails. I've found some promising ones just south of me that I may be able to tie into. :-D

I don't get to do this weekend's VV challenge...heading out to Kansas City to speak.

Angie
