Re: [RC] RE:Belsemo that won't load - Kathy Macki

Nancy,

I really think you should take advantage of Paul's offer. It is very generous of him. I had a horse that I couldn't load. I even sold my really nice two horse and bought a stock trailer. Same story she still wouldn't go in. One day I made my mind up that she was going in even if it took all day. I had a very long rope with a bull snap on the end. I could hook it to her halter and then run the rope through a window, slat, whatever and then stand behind her. (Don't forget your gloves so that the rope can slide if he pulls). It took me hours but I never lost my temper and just keep working with her. I used a lounge whip (never hit her, just bothered her) and finally got her in. It was almost dark by then so I just took her down the road to my friend's house left her stand in the trailer while we had coffee and then came home. The next day I tried again and it took ten minutes. I used that rope for a long time and she never gave me any trouble. She is now my best loader and all I have to do is point her at the door. It turned out that she had "me" convinced that she wouldn't load.

Good Luck,

Kathy

Hi Donna,

We will be visiting in Southern California for the holidays. We get there Sunday afternoon. If you would like, I can help you train your horse to load (no charge). I know it can be frustrating, and make you want to strangle him, but we can get him over it.
There are some pretty simple, non-violent ways to get him to load, and we can get this done.

The best way to reach me will be my cell phone (417) 818-0210.. Or my Moms house (310) 371-2203

Yours

Paul N. Sidio
