A long hill that spooks me is the highway down into Death Valley. It goes down a very long alluvial fan, at least 20 miles, maybe more. It's been so long since we last drove it I can't remember the length, but it is a steady grade. I've been over Tehachapi Pass many times and I don't remember it as being frightening, but I suppose I've forgotten; but Towne Pass into Death Valley is definitely a "remember" one, as well as the highway from Owens Valley over the mountains into Panamint Valley. With Lud's Dodge diesel and 6-speed stick shift, I'm not so nervous about those grades.

OMGAWD!!    When I drove from the Twin Cities to CA a few summers ago,
I was a bit freaked out on some of the grades my rig had to climb and
then...go back down. Tehachapi Pass scared the cr@$ out of me. I had
to pull the RV/trailer over half way down to give the brakes a
"break". Yikes.
