[RC] Important/Ridecamper stuck in Napa..needs help - Kathie Ford

Hi RC'ers...our fellow Ridecamper friend Dawn Simas is stuck in Napa, CA right now, tonight; this evening. She would appreciate advice/or help w/the following situation in regards to her truck brakes...seems they work okay, but not correct and her brake pedal is acting weird...

Please read below..especially if you are in the near area and or know of or are a mechanic!! If any one can help her out she'd be extremely grateful!!

It is Dawn Simas. She has her cell phone but the battery is not strong. Phone is (530)305-1464. She has a blackberry phone and can be emailed w/quicker response time.

Hope somebody can help her!!!

Thanks!
kathie

> I will check that in the morning, and the brake fluid I guess. It seems something is wrong with my pedal rather than the brake system. I recently replaced the brake booster, and the symptom was a hard pedal, like your power assist went out. But, right now the brakes feel normal. And the idiot brake light is not on. (It was on when my booster, and the master cylinder went out in the past, signalling a problem with the brake system). The pedal only comes up half way, I have to reach down and lift it the rest of the way in order to get the brake lights to go out, and hold on to it. If I let go, the pedal sinks down with gravity about half way, applying light braking. If I press the pedal down with my foot, it stops the truck fine with a normal feel. Show this to Bob and let me know what he thinks?

> As for RC, thank you for posting for help. I need to know if there's a mechanic nearby that can help. Or, worst case, a recommendation for a shop nearby that I can leave it with Monday. I can have a friend come get me and my trailer and take me home Monday, then bring me back to get the truck later. I am in the small town of Glen Ellen in Napa Valley, only 20 miles or so north of I80 on hwy 12.
