About mares... you know, it's the bad ones that give them all a bad
name. I bet I've boarded/handled/trained/ridden 150 mares over the years, and I think I've ran into four or five who were bitchy in heat.


And I'll bet in those same years, you've met four or five cranky geldings too. It's just that with mares we use the "heat" excuse because it's usually cyclical.

Right now I can think of an extraordinarily cranky gelding a friend owns and a grumpy little Icelandic cross mare I really love to ride. The nice thing about the mare is that she loves her trails so much that she really softens up when she gets to go out and about.
