Re: [RC] renaming a horse - Liz Carey

My horse came to me as a two-year old with the registered name "Soubrette", which is French for "frivolous maiden".    I didn't want her going through life with a name
synonymous to "ding-bat", plus she is a Polish Arabian and it seemed odd for her to
have a French name.      I call her "Basia" (pronounced like Sasha) which is Polish for
Barbara (my mother's name) or Barbie (I have been known to say that she is my giant
Barbie Doll) and added the "Princess" because her sire, Penitent, was a Polish and
European champion stallion in the early 90s.

She never "knew" her old name, but now she comes when she is called.   'Course she is
14 and very well taken care of, so she both recognizes her name, my (and others') voice,
and where good things come from....

I think she likes her name.   She certainly likes being Princess Basia.

Now that sounds like a story or two.  Could you give some examples?
(Really, I'm curious.)
