RE: [RC] Calcium issues at a ride - Karen StandeferThere are way more variables in Calcium uptake than that. I suggest she gets a complete blood workup done. So many other things besides just Magnesium affect calcium uptake. -----Original Message----- From: ridecamp-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:ridecamp-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of k s swigart Sent: Wednesday, January 21, 2009 12:37 AM To: ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [RC] Calcium issues at a ride Chrystal said: Anyway long story short eventually the vet decided it was ?a calcium problem and tubed a whole bunch of water, calcium ?and magnesium oxide into her. Within 40 min's Miss T's HR ?was down to 40 and she has been perfect ever since. If my horse's HR problems resolved themselves with the administration of water, calcium and magnesium oxide, I would be inclined to think that I might have magnesium issues rather than just calcium, espeically since lots of feeds are either high in calcium or are calcium fortified. However, magnesium and calcium compete with each other for uptake so, getting the right amount of both can be tricky. kat Orange County, Calif. :) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
