[RC] 1/2 or 1 hour recovery - sherman

Title: Message
Pretty sure it's for pulse only, but most would want a full exam or they'd instead need to return within the next 30 min for the completion exam. Sometimes that means an additional 10 minutes of walking and then more time waiting in line, wasting time that the horse should have been resting, eating  and drinking. Annually, I wonder how many horses  are not recovering within 30 minutes and then having life threatening problems at the end of the rides? Some proponents make it sound like it's very common, and unless the 30 min recovery is put into place many horses will be suffering.

I know there are exceptions, but riders I know and see are very quick to take their horse to a ride vet if they think anything is amiss.

Very good summary, Diane. I will add a couple of things.

I believe the 30-minute proposal is to perform the full exit exam at 30 minutes. A poster on the AERC forum made the observation that there are two groups of horses that need care: the delayed recovery group, and the late problem group, where problems develop 30 - 60 minutes after the horse has finished.
