I usually wear my helmet, (but not ALWAYS, bad girl!) even though our
trails are nothing but soft sand, there are still trees and rocks to
land on.  However, I haven't really even considered wearing a vest until
following this thread.  The thought of breaking or cracking ribs sounds
really painful to me.  Can you guys recommend a comfy vest?  The thought
of wearing a stiff, hot vest doesn't sound good either, but . . . I'll
take that over broken ribs any day.

I wear both. Doesn't matter how hot it is either (and I'm in FL). I can
count on one hand the # of times I've ridden without my vest since
breaking ribs in 2004. . . .
