[RC] Tevis and Saddles - Sandy Adams

You know, Tevis provides a great opportunity to see what is working out there and what is not so hot. I for one am very interested in saddles and pads, since they seem to be integral in how well a horse can do. So how about some info from those who have done Tevis - ever - as well as the multi day riders. Maybe a short list of q Q & A would help:
1. which saddle has been your BEST saddle overall, and what general type of horse did it work best for?
2. what was the WORST fit saddle you tried for that type of horse?
3. What pad(s) work the best, i.e., staying put, cushioning, wicking sweat, durability?
4. what is your opinion on a. treeless
  b. cheaper, synthetic saddles
  c. English vs. western types of trees?
5. finally, what is the biggest saddle/pad fit issue you have encountered to date, and how were you able to rectify it in order to compete at the level you need to for Tevis?

Many of us will be waiting with bated breath - and remember, this is not JUST for Tevis 2009 riders. Thanks!
Sandy
