[RC] Tevis pre-ride tomorrow, anyone? - Jonni

This is just my personal opinion, but I would NOT pre ride any long distances of the trail, this close to the ride. The best thing one could do, in my opinion, is to ride from the fairgrounds out to the highway crossing, or maybe to the river crossing and back. It is more beneficial (again, in my opinion) to ride the stuff you will be riding in the dark, and be the most mentally drained, than riding any of the other stuff. Also, less chance of injury to said horse (or mule) this close to the ride if you stick to the easier stuff towards the end.

We always did all our pre-riding 3 to 5 weeks ahead of the ride, then just do easy stuff as we got close to the ride.

And remember, if your horse is not "in shape" for the ride today, not much you can change by next Saturday except to actually put too many miles on them.
