[RC] "Dream Team" of participants" and completion rates - Michael Maul

In a recent post - rider records were quoted that include completion rates that include records that go back to 1984.

These came from the online ride archives that Russ and I are responsible for.

I've pointed this out in the past and need to again.

From 1984 to Dec 1995 - *every rider has a perfect record* in the online database. Russ and I were not able to get pulls out of the old database so there are no pulls listed for anyone.

You should *not* include these statistics in a riders completion record.

The *only* accurate record of a rider or horse completion record is from the 1996 season to the present. That record could give you an estimate of the completion rate prior to 1996.

This will significantly reduce the completion rate for riders who have most of their record prior to 1996.

Most of these riders will still have excellent records but not as good as the statistics quoted in the earlier post.

It might be interesting to redo the Dream Team using the 1996 season to the present.

Mike
