[RC] Mongol "Dream Team" of participants - Melissa Margetts

I chatted with Kathleen at the AERC office today. She confirmed and updated some of the records of a few of the riders (Yes there are others too of course but these were just the people I know.) that I was using as examples last night, of people who could be considered the "Best-of-the-Best" that I would cheer for and bet on as, "Dream Team" participants and ambassadors for the sport in a ride like the Mongolian Race or ANY endurance horse race in the WORLD for that matter! Yep these ARE people to look up to and follow their extraordinary lead. They have an amazing number of miles of completions with incredibly few pulls, which shows they are tough, know how to pace, read their horses and take care of them for many, MANY miles.....Sadly, some of them are not riding any more but their records speak volumes to us rookies who will always be trying to "figure it out". Some of these riders, "ride for the RACE" and try to finish at the front of the pack and others "ride for the RIDE" and are content to spend every hour available in the saddle, some spend very little time in the saddle because they're always running! Either way, if you look at their records you can't deny what experience, patience and brains will get you. The AERC sure DOES have some World Class riders that CAN be considered the "Best-of-the-Best".

Please email to ridecamp some of your ledgendary rider role-models, especially some of the names of International riders with incredible records of consistent completions that we maybe haven't heard of very often here.
