RE: [RC] rein length - carolyn

If you have a horse with a long neck, longer reins are nice, but with a smaller horse or a horse with a shorter neck, there is such a thing as having too much rein.  I thought like you that more was better, but I actually ended up with too much rein.

Am I missing a reason NOT to get longer reins?...  As in, I have 10 foot yacht rope reins, want to get new ones, am thinking about the biothane reins with grips.  There is the option of 11 feet, and am wondering why people prefer the shorter reins over the longer reins?  Just to beat the comments that I know are coming, I know that they have those romel attachments, but I prefer having the loop of the reins, so that I can "hold" onto the reins while still having full use of my hands, if needed.  Thanks!  -Michelle
