I think you hit on it!  I know he was sort of short and long
- perhaps a wiener/terrier.  I remember riding in the dark
and seeing him trotting along in the shadows.  Rather fit
little dog who was always with Phil.  
Yes those days were lax, and odd too. The sheriff was at
the end of one of the rides to pick up a wanted criminal who
was enjoying a nice 100 miler.    
Our memories of those days are always colored by comments
made by the late photographer Charlie Barieau.  We can't
tell you some of the imitations he did of famous endurance
riders and others.  I know he had pictures of Phil's
dog.  Sadly we don't have access to those photos.

I wish I could remember his name, but that little

went on all the conditioning rides.? I can't

vouch for

the fact that he did the Nevada 100, but things were

lax in

the early days of Nevada rides so I imagine he did

it.? Was

his name Snoopy?? Martha, help me out!? I remember

him as

more of a terrier cross.
