[RC] non-AERC awards at the convention - Michael Maul

Kim,

You have an interesting question.

"Using your reasoning below, could regional clubs or non AERC awards programs also be allowed to present awards at the AERC Convention. I would love it if the PS & W 100 mile program could be part of the regional awards. "

The program you mention has done very well and it would be nice to have recognition for it. The Decade Team concept originated and supported by Karen Chaton is another that I really would like to see AERC recognize.

On the other hand - I understand Bob's mention of the history behind why the regional and national awards were split into separate events because the awards were running so long at the banquet. Bob has a good point and I was not aware of why the policy was developed. That's another good point for why we need the review of policies and procedures that Jan Stevens is working on.

Bruce Weary and Patti Stedman are the MCs of the awards banquet and are working hard to keep the awards length shorter than past awards. Their life has not become easier with the breed awards and the USEF awards added to the list.

It's a topic worth raising to the BoD to see what can be done.

Mike
