You know, I think just a few years ago when fees were lower, people did not
get so up in arms about relinquishing fee, particularly since most of them
are the result of no-shows etc. HOWEVER, now, with the average ride - even no
frills - being $100 or more, it IS a big deal, When an RM fails to return
a fee, when the policy spells out a cut off date and even a distinct policy of
refund, then it is entirely understandable that a rider would be angry. In the
end, a person of integrity DOES refund a fee when the notice is before the cut
off. An RM who fails to do so tells you much about him or herself. While no one
wants to BE discouraged from pre paying, this kind of stealing - and it IS
stealing - quite rightly reduces the number of people who are willing to pre pay
- and whether or not one will pre pay will more and more depend on just this
sort of conversation. While bringing names into it might be controversial, how
else shall we know who the scheisters are? There are just a couple of RMs who
have demonstrated that they do not deserve the luxury of early sign-ups. The
ones who behave honorably will continue to get the early sign ups from us - and
others.
