[RC] Strings attaching cover to saddle - Mike Lewis

I have had problems the past two rides with my blankety-blank full-length saddle cover's stirrup leather flap detaching at the stirrup and making a nice lap ornament in the middle of a 12+ mile loop.

No, I didn't stop to fix it.  :-)  This is the kind of thing you don't slow down for when you want to make top-10, despite it being VERY annoying to have seat cover in your lap instead of under your backside...

Has anyone found a good way to ensure that full-length seat cover stirrup flaps stay attached?  I'm about to give up on regular string/rope, as I can't make it stay tied.  Next plan is maybe some sort of wax-covered leather that won't come untied.
