Re: [RC] [RC] Patron Russian lines - D'Arcy Demianoff-Thompson

Hi Julienne,

We have a *Abdullahhh  son (*Patron x Psikhea).  His name is Cejlon.  Cejlon has body, type, and brains.  He also has a very serious stubborn streak.  Every Russian bred horse I have come in contact with is the same way.  However, they are easy to train,  make fantastic sport horses, and are fiercely loyal to their humans.  Vices are few and far between.

There has only been one incident, in the sixteen years that I have handled Cejlon, that caused me concern.   We were moving him from one ranch to another and he decided he didn't want to be separted from the horses that were still at the barn we were moving from.  He decided to pen, in the inside of a slant load trailer, up against the side.  Needless to say it was not a good situation.  Once he was moved and settled down and saw that many of the horses were there as well he was okay to handle and work with.  Now this is a horse that has done about 3000 miles of trail riding.  I haven't had any issues with him since.  I love this horse and wouldn't trade him for any other stallion.  However, I have a healthy respect for him because I know he knows I am but a mere human and he is more powerful and probably smarter.  I'll be getting him ready for a few 25's this year.  So, I'll keep you posted.

I also handled Fast Ptrack.  He was a well bred race horse and did quite well.  He was HUGE.  I never had any issues with him.  That guy could have cleaned up half of CA with me if he had wanted to.  He was very kind, gentle, and loved humans.  I was able to visit a few of his get and found them all to have the same calm and happy dispositions as Fast Ptrack.

If you want some people, that were heavy into Russian imports and breeding, to contact let me know.

I'm looking at a mare tomorrow who is out of Patent, a Patron sign.  Can anyone give me insight on what traits these lines tend to have?  From what I've gathered via google, it looks like Patent is a Russian producer of racehorses.  Sounds like they have the physical part down, what about the mental?
