Re: [RC] First Ride after knee replacement - Carrie Kitley

Sandy - I'm so glad you brought this up and posted about your first ride after knee replacement surgery!!  And congratulations to you.

As a person with crappy knees, I'm fairly certain that a knee replacement will be in my future and I had fretted somewhat about whether or not riding would be history.  It's so encouraging to know that people have been through this (and more) and survived to get back in the saddle.  Very good news!  :)  Ride on!

On Swanton Pacific in August we had two riders (at least) that had had joint replacements.  They both rode the 75 mile ride.  One was a man with both shoulders and both hips replaced, the other a woman with one hip replaced.  He is probably in his 50s (guessing), the woman is 76.  You'll be just fine, especially with your good attitude.
