I don't agree with bull fighting, but your comment reminded me of something
that happened when I was last in grad school. I went over to study with some
Pakistani friends one evening, and before we got down to studying, they were
quite excited about what had happened earlier that day - 

"We saw a naked woman outside our apartment today!"
"Wow, that's quite unusual!", I replied.
"Well, actually she was only very nearly naked."

As it turned out, someone was sunbathing in her bikini, which my friends
were completely unprepared to have encountered...

I suspect they'd find the average summer endurance ride nearly as alien.

On the same sort of note, some friends went to feed us horse at a sushi bar
in Tokyo one evening, and once we figured out what it was and refused, there
was much embarrassment all around - them for offending their guests, and us
for refusing what they thought was a delicacy.

There was a funny end to the story when they came over here, and we brought
them back to our place after dinner and took them to meet our horses.
Several of them mobbed us, we fed them treats, got them to run and show off
- much to the delight of our guests. The comment of the evening was "Wow!
They are like very big dog!"
