Hypernatremia = too much sodium

Hyperchloremia = too much chloride

 

They are both associated with too much fluid loss.


Um, they can also both be associated with consuming too much sodium and 
chloride.  That would appear to be the case in horses that are being given high 
doses of e-lytes and who are actually drinking MORE in an attempt to dilute out 
the excess e-lytes they are being given...
