Fwd: [RC] saddle question - Crysta Turnage

I wonder if at least some part of it is not because of the weight
requirement (165 lb minimum). A lot of the international level riders
are fairly light and small, I know that several have to carry dead
weight in order to make minimums. Marcia Smith was telling me that
several riders (herself included) even have special saddles with lead
on the tree in order to make them heavier.

Both Kathy's and Meg's blog mentioned a concern with making minimum
weight. Being able to have 10 extra pounds in the structure of the
saddle itself, might be a greater benefit to these riders rather than
using a treeless and having to find other locations to put "dead
weight".

I am surprised at the comment made that NO treeless saddles were seen at
WEC. Anyone have any idea why this would be, I see them on a lot of horses
at rides here.

What kind of saddles did they use at WEC> >> Malaysia? Thanks, Linda Klee>
