[RC] WEC start - terre

I've been wondering if this might also have been a factor in what has been described as a rather unruly start: I am thinking that probably every one of the 100+ horses that started is used to being a 'front runner' at home. Even when the rider doesn't have a 'get out front and stay there' strategy, I'm thinking none of these horses are accustomed to seeing a bunch of butts AHEAD of them. Many riders with 'competitive' horses (I'm one of 'em) try to 'manage' their animals by 'getting them alone' on the trail--how do you do that with 100+ horses all capable of going as fast or faster than yourself?

Horses have egos, too, ya know! at least mine sure do.
