Re: [RC] Diatomaceous Earth for worming? - a.hoins

A rare chance to read my email this month and saw the
thread on DE.

Just my personal experience: used "food grade" DE on a
pregnant goat I had just bought, as she looked like she
had a worm load, scruffy coat etc. She expelled a large
volume of tape worms. I then put her on a worm wood
formula which took care of everything else. All my goats
to this day are on this formula and doing wonderfully.
Herbals must be used consistently and regularly and this
is where I think people can get into trouble. Also herbals
will not completely eradicate, only render the environment
inhospitable, keeping the parasite numbers low.

Was told recently that wormwood is hard on the kidneys
and am looking to verify that information. My horses are
on a herbal wormer, only getting the wormwood formula
every two to three months. Have yet to try DE on the horses.

I use ivermectin and other chemicals depending on the time
of year and what parasite I am targeting.

This is only my experience, not necessarily encouraging
others to jump on this wagon;o)

I used d e for over a month and retested the fecal sample and there was NO change in the amount of worms.
