Carrie:

I have an older WW bp stock-type trailer that allows me to configure for 4 horses straight, 3 horses slant, 2 horses straight and 1 boxed, or 2 horses boxed. Since I mostly take 1 or 2 horses out, I usually use the box configuration. My horses are loose and they almost always turn around and ride backward the whole way. I have one mare that, when trailered alone, will turn around repeatedly until she settles. Yes, I can feel it in the truck (a '96 F250). I use an equalizer hitch and sway bars for just this purpose.
