Re: [RC] National Championships - Maryanne Gabbani

As someone who has done the reporting job from a site far from Oreana...the Pan Arabs here in Egypt and only for a day or two!...I must say to all on RC that you guys are blessed with an amazing team in the Teeters and Merri.  John and Merri were there for me at all hours of the day and night (since there is a 9 hour difference between here and there) to help with technical things. When you count your blessings, be sure to add them and the crazy people like Angie and me who try to make sense on a keyboard of the the normal insanity of a race. Once it's over, you ask yourself why you were doing this for about 48 hours anyway...but after a while you are willing to do it again and the support of John, Steph and Merri is a major part of it.

Angie - you are a terrific reporter/correspondent! We really appreciate you efforts, and your humor, and your accent :)

And also thanks to Merri Melde - while Angie was running around ridecamp trying to keep up with everybody, Merri was glued to the computer here in Oreana trying to keep up with Angie. And John was tech backup - a very good team.  And everybody is ready to do it again for the 50's!

And congrats to Valerie and Ali - an awesome team . I'll try to dig up their New Mexico 07 ride report. Pretty amazing.

I'm in the airport now, headed to Malaysia. I'll start sending stories, photos, reports, etc as soon as I get settled in.

later- !

Whew! What a last 36 hours. :-P Sorry for the gap in communications. My Dell computer died, but I've got my mac up and going and using Running Bear's Wi-Fi we're back in business.

Awards this morning went great. Good food, happy riders, lots of awards.

So happy for Farzad Faryadi for winning BC for AERC & AHA rides. He is so well liked and everyone was just happy for him. His acceptance speech was classic. He thanked all the vets who had ever pulled him to teach him lessons and help him get better at the sport. Just a great attitude.

The fifties have taken over camp, triple the number of horses, and so many 100's still here, just beautiful horses everywhere. We're trying to imagine how to handle triple the horses in tomorrow. Should get interesting.

It will be impossible to keep up with *all* the horses coming and going from all the checks, but I will be posting the front 20 or so and will try to keep pulls up to date at all times. At the finish will list the entire group as they finish, probably 10-20 at a time.
