Re: [RC] How much hay do you feed and what kind? - rjkopp

Well, just for comparison.....I live outside Louisville, Kentucky. Have three
horses on approximately 9 acres - almost all grass pasture. Grass grows and
stays green till begining of December, starts growing again in April. I don't
feed much hay so I buy in small quantities from a local feed store. Monday I
bought 10 bales of really nice orchard grass - 50lb bales- at $10.50/bale. In
December the same bales were $10/bale. The feed store is getting this hay from
northern Ohio. My horses get a flake each in the morning and a flake in the
evening. The rest of the time they are on pasture eating the brown grass. No
grain.
