How could AERC have prevented a lawsuit, though? 
 
I agree it was wrong, wrong, wrong that the rider sued the ride vet, btw.  I never heard any outcome - did the plaintiff "win?"

Since the AERC allowed a member to successfully sue a ride vet when the rider was the culpable party in the death of the horse,  and the AERC did not step in and sanction or ban this rider from rides or even support rides that did ban the rider, I cannot imagine why any vet would ever sign up to vet rides.  Thank goodness some are still willing, but I wouldn't blame them one bit if they didn't.  Cindy
