RE: [RC] Waterproofing roof of Horse trailer advice - Jannelle Wilde & Adam Falk

I would not use what he brought home. The best bet is to return it and get
some silicone caulk and caulk all the seams on the outside and inside of the
trailer. You may need to replace the rubber on the window. That is not
hard to do, but you need to get the correct size and shape for your window.
You should also use a bonding agent to secure the gasket to the window. If
he insists on n painting the roof, they make the stuff in white. I would
not do it though.

Subject: [RC] Waterproofing roof of Horse trailer advice

If you can help me on this PLEASE respond because I don't want to screw
this up!

OK, we're still out here fixing up this aluminum 3 horse...which is going
to *ruin* my reputation for roughing it! Just want to make it CLEAR to
all my fellow primitive campers that this was Bill's idea.

Anyway, he just came home from Home Depot with a big bucket of
waterproofing stuff you put on top of the trailer that says it has fiber
insulation in it. The thing is, it's BLACK and you paint it on. I'm not
about to paint that all over the top of a nice reflective aluminum
trailer unless somebody tells me it's a great idea! It looks like it's
for a house trailer to me.

So, this trailer is leaking a little at the left rear corner in the tack
storage area and maybe a little on the drop down window wall in the
trailer. What should we do for that?

Angie
