Re: [RC] ponying - Katrina Mosshammer

<<Sbolinge@xxxxxxx said: What is the rule concerning ponying a horse on an endurance ride? It sure would be a great way to introduce a young horse to endurance. I assume it isn't allowed because of the chance someone would switch around which one they were riding.  >>

I feel pretty sure that none of the RMs that I know (myself included) would let a person purposefully leave camp with the intention of ponying an extra horse while they are competing in the ride.

On the flip side, I also believe that none of those same RMs would have any problem with a rider ponying a horse back to camp if the horse had gotten away from someone else and was wandering free or if a rider was injured and had to be medi-flighted or picked up and the horse was not able to be trailed out and had to be ponied to camp or a place where it could be trailed out.
