Well, my first impression after watching a couple of the videos, is that this thing is just as prone to mistakes as anything else. It depends on positioning the plastic guide pretty exactly ... they say in the video that "a fraction of an inch" is critical. OK .... the thing is positioned by hand and eye, and I really didn't see anything that made a really good guide for positioning it.
You still have to eyeball the line you draw on the hoof with the actual bottom of the hoof, and I DON'T think that line is where you want to trim the hoof to - unless your horse grows a lot of hoof.
$119 for a piece of plastic, a white grease pencil and an instructional video seems kind of pricey.
I also think that most farriers would not be open to using such a thing -- regardless of whether it works or not, I would bet that the reaction would be along the lines of "You have to be kidding - drawing lines on the hoof would make me look like an amateur to my customers". Some will use a hoof angle measure, but something where they draw lines? I don't think so. That is not a point for folks that do their own trimming, but I don't think that is the majority of horse owners.
