I don't see Kat as having implied anything.  She was just telling the 
facts from *her* neck of the woods.  I don't know about your area of N 
CA but in the Bay Area, the latest rage ALWAYS costs more, whether it is 
worth it or not.

Also, she didn't mention training or even allude to it. And as for 
attending clinics, many farriers who shoe horses do that too. 
Continuing/improving education is NOT the sole province of the barefoot 
trimmer.

You described what shoers in your area typically do.  I'll bet that all 
the auto mechanics in your area who work on foreign made cars aren't top 
drawer either.  Does that mean you shouldn't own a foreign car?  Or does 
it mean you have to shop around till you find a good mechanic?
