[RC] Question on Gut Sounds Article in Aug06 Vet Newsletter - Kristen A Fisher

I was reviewing the article on gut sounds on pages 3-4 in this newsletter http://aerc.org/upload/VetNewsletter20706.pdf but got a little confused. Figure 1 indicates it is the left abdominal wall, but seems to show the off side of the horse, which would be the right side. Figure 2 says its the right abdominal wall, but shows the near/left side of the horse. Or maybe there is another way that vets looks at "sides" of the horse?
