[RC] What I have learned from my horses - Ranelle Rubin

Great subject!

What I have learned: (Most of these apply to the Leadership work I do with my clients as well)

-When you get into a "chaos " situation, sit in the middle and relax..breathe deep and let the horse take the next step

-When your horse is scared...listen, and think of a way to get them through it in such a manner that they learn, not just go through the motions. It is up to me to teach him to be secure in his job.

-Only move forward in training as the horse has the capacity to absorb the lesson. My five yr old has been teaching me this lesson on every ride. If I am listening, he clearly lets me know when he has had enough for that day.

-Work hard and rest well

-When it is hot, raining, or windy, RIDE ANYWAY!

Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway. ~ John Wayne
