I think the same thing and I've read and studied about it for a long time, plus have been trimming my 3 club footed horses myself for several years now. I  know they do better with more frequent trimming to not let the hooves get out of balance; that clubby heel always grows faster because they don't put as much pressure on it when they're standing around.  It's kind of like the "which came first-the chicken or the egg" theory.
