Re: [RC] [RC] [RC] Ponying - Val Nicoson

I ponied a friend's horse once.  Her horse supposedly knew how to be ponied and I didn't know if my mare would or not.  I just took the lead and started off.  It wasn't long and my mare would pin her ears and make an ugly face anytime my friend's horse came up alongside too far...he had to stay back by her rump.  By golly if he didn't listen to her and stay put...and he was dominant over her in the pasture too.  I guess she knew some things we didn't ;-)

I have done this at a ride,  ponied a lost horse several miles and when I got back to camp with the horse the owner told me that,  "the horse doesn't pony".  It is a handy skill to have.
