The Mt Everest comparison is very appropriate, especially because the equipment mountain climbers now use is SO much better -- just like our equipment is better, making the hard work that much easier.  Also, the people who climb Mt Everest now have the many years of experience of those who have gone before them, just like we do in endurance.  I know I greatly appreciate it, all the knowledge and experience of those who have been doing endurance for so many years.  Sure makes it easier to finish a ride, and take better care of the horse.
