Re: [RC] MPG on a F250 Triton V10 and more... - Michael Lewis

Might want to check into the price of used diesel pickups. I understand diesels have really taken a hit on resale (my two year old truck won't bring more than $19k trade-in, purchase price was close to $36k--glad I plan to keep it!) You might be able to get into a more suitable truck for towing (i.e., a diesel) at a price not much more than the V-10.

Road towing performance and fuel mileage with the diesel will be much better than with a gasoline engine, which will offset the higher price of diesel fuel.

Just a couple things to consider...

I have been lurking on ridecamp and as a new member to AERC enjoying
listening to you all.

I have to buy a new truck and found one that I need to make a decision on.
Does anyone own a 2001 (or year close to that) triton V10, F250 super duty
truck and what kind of mileage do you get? How many miles have you put on
yours? Any major repairs needed? Any other feedback you feel would be
helpful would be appreciated. Do I need that much truck to pull a 3h w/dressing room?

Also, I tried the Horse Quencher (or my horse rather :) and he liked it!

I did the 25 at the OD as my first ride and we came in (I have an Anglo)
10th, much to my surprise. My friend was right behind me with her quarter
horse. I was really impressed with him. They both had 12 weeks of
conditioning. The rain really saved us. When it started to pour we just
moved out as the heat really dissipated. I thought the ride was well run
but I have nothing to compare it to either.

I am planning on doing the 30 at Biltmore. Has anyone done that ride that
can give me some feedback.

Also, is the guide book to endurance rides sold by action rider tack good ?

Much to learn...........many questions.........many thanks :)
