But no, writing a bad check doesn't stick it to your family.  You cannot
inherit debt unless you were also a party to it before the debtor died.

Settling outstanding debt can come out of your estate (so your family or
whoever you leave it to will get less from you when you die), but if
your estate is less than zero you cannot "stick it to" whoever you
mention in your will.
