[RC] Competeing an IR Horse - Drin Becker

Thanks everyone for all the responses , I got lots of great information from some . My mare did very well in endurance when I competed her but than had two major tie ups two years apart at rides and both were early in the ride at a moderate pace (8mph) Both times she had to have lots of fluids and when they did the blood tests she basically had zero Calcium in her blood . She has always carried extra weight even when I was riding her every other day , she can pretty much live on air :-) Even when competing hard she only received about 1 cup of Ultium in her BP along with grass hay . She also has some pretty bad reactions to some of her vaccines in the past . She has had 1 1/2 years off of endurance with just some light trail riding . She has never had any signs of laminitis but does have the cresty neck . Our place is all grass pastureland so I have ordered her a grazing muzzle so I do not have to keep her locked up in a corral all the time . She just has a few things going on that are making me question whether or not she is IR .
