Re: [RC] Electrolytes - Keith W. Kibler

So, those of you who mix with apple sauce, what is your regiment for that please?

Great advice, Truman..especially the part about smaller doses. Great comparison chart, and there are some comments about DynaSpark that I personally appreciate. Horses love it, will usually eat better with it, and seem to do better than what I have seen with other products.

I crewed for a horse last Sat that has always had a problem getting through a 50 in terms of metabolics. Her owner is a client of mine, and took my advice..pre-loaded Thurs/Fri with half doses, then on Sat at the first vet check we had a "mash and hay soup" with a little squirt of DynaSpark in it. She gobbled it up, we syringed her with a half dose mixed with applesauce and DynaPro (pro-biotic). He said she drank at every opportunity from that ck (at 17 miles) to the 30 mile check. She trotted in looking great..we repeated the process after she ate and drank. He was amazed..said she has never done better. When he brought her home and turned her out, she trotted around with her tail in the air, her nostrils flared and snorted. He said she looked great the next morning as well.

If the molasses, the phosphorus source helps them eat, and keep their blood sugar up, I'll take it! I will say though, that I only use half doses..1/2 oz is the max I give at any one time.

But what I didn't know is what to use, and that there are electrolytes mixes specifically for endurance horses!
