RE: [SPAM] [RC] Our First 100 - heidi

I have a sort of technical question/problem/issue, whatever you wish to call
it. This may be a bit long but I'm looking for some input.

Todd, just a few thoughts here...

One, a gas colic can happen to anybody, anytime. Did she eat anything
different at the ride? (Most horses do!) You mention changing some other
things--probios, calcium, etc.--any changes like that can lead to mild
digestive upset simply by changing the gut flora a bit and causing some
resultant gas.

Two, may you have over-lyted for the mild conditions? That, too, can cause
some gut discomfort.

Three, have you had her teeth checked lately? Incomplete chewing can lead to
colic, ranging from mild gas colic (see #1) to some pretty toxic hindgut
problems in severe cases. Even if she isn't skinny or dropping feed, check her
teeth.

Four, another poster mentioned doing a fenbendazole purge. Not a bad idea.

Heidi
