I moved to Indiana last summer and was in to see my vet just a few weeks ago. We were going over the horses' vaccination updates that we needed and when she mentioned rabies, I told her that because they had the 3 year vaccine, they did not need to be vaccinated again until next spring. She corrected me and told me the exact same thing Karen mentioned below - that the vaccine was not designed for a 3-year run on horses. They still needed to be vaccinated annually.

Well.....the vaccine manufacturer (i.e. the people selling the vaccine)
WOULD say that wouldn't they?  Manufacturers are not always the most
reliable source of information with respect to how often it is in your
best interests to buy their product.
