[RC] Wildlife on the trail - Jen

I enjoy seeing wildlife, the icing on the cake of my ride.

But the ones I find far more annoying are the deer! Those brainless suicidal
animals just LOVE to pop up right in front of you and run screaming. Makes
horses run AND THEN ask the deer "Why are we running, is something coming to
eat us?"

We ride with jingle beads on our horses, makes the deer run away much sooner,
and my friends aren't forced to hear me sing. Everyone wins!

Another fun encounter was while I was riding as a trail guide in the Canadian
Shield, on a big 1600 lbs Belgian gelding. We were in the lead when this
little mama partridge came strutting out, clucking and fluttering her wings,
trying to chase us off (chicks at edge of bush). Thunder, stopped, bent his
head to sniff her (which really freaked her out!), snorted (I swear he said
"Crazy Chick!") and continued on. But other horses in the line gave her a wide
berth, even though the most she could have done was peck them on the coronet
band!
