RE: [RC] Abrasion Issue (Females Only) - Susan E. Garlinghouse, DVM

First, if it hurts to pee after riding, you're not drinking enough water.

Two - Mix equal parts of 1% hydrocortisone, Maximum Strength Lanacane and
generic triple antibiotic. All of these are available over the counter at
WalMart. Either cream or ointment will do, depending on your preference,
just use the same form for all three ingredients. Mix it together and
either spoon it back into one of those refillable toothpaste tubes you can
get from camping supply stores, or any other firmly closing container. A
baby food jar works fine, but you can't easily carry it in a saddle bag. A
double layer of snack-sized Ziploc baggies tucked into a cantle bag is
handy. Slather it generously anywhere that you expect might become
inflamed, abraded, or you might otherwise prefer to be a bit less sensitive.
It also works just dandy on horses, but isn't legal under AERC drug rules
until after the ride (very handy for cactus pokes and such).

If you have a sympathetic MD that's willing to write you a scrip, then using
6% tetracaine ointment in place of the Lanacaine (which is 20% benzocaine)
is even better, but has a shorter shelf life.

Subject: [RC] Abrasion Issue (Females Only)

I have an abrasion issue that just keeps getting worse. Seams on underwear,
tights, jeans, seat covers, etc. have always been cause for an uncomfortable
crotch, but has escalated to very painful. (Sorry, but peeing after riding?
Owwwwwww.) I've tried looking for seamless wear, but just haven't found
anything that's made a difference. Has anyone tried Monkey Butt in the
'personal' area? I'd appreciate any and all advice.

THANK YOU.
