My favorite mare has a serious vertical quarter
crack. She has a funny little dent in her coronary band. The hoof wall looks
okay but it is very prone to cracking right below the dent. We have treated it
with TLC for some time and had been holding our own until this winter when
it just went all to heck. It is now cracked almost to the hairline. Pretty
frustrating since she has had the winter off and now that spring is coming I
want to ride!!
My farrier is talking about trying a Z shoe on her.
Anyone had any experience with them?
