I weaned Rocket from the mare at 6 months and started her back 
conditioning. I lived at that time in a neighborhood where there weren't 
many houses and we did have horse trails so I could get in a good 7 mile 
gallop safely in the neighborhood. Rocket will still in with the mares. 
Then one morning I come back from a ride, bring the mare in the pasture, 
stop inside that gate to let her get a drink.

Old Rocket comes running up - not a big deal. As I turn to lead her to 
the barn to untack, he hops on her and he was ready to rock and roll. I 
started trotting her in hand and that little sap sucker was hopping has 
hard as the could on his hind legs trying to stay mounted. He finally 
couldn't keep up and dropped off. That morning I called the vet to 
schedule brain surgery. He was about 9 months old.
