Excellent question, in my opinion.

Subject: [RC] old alfalfa???

Question for Ridecampers (specifically the vets):  Does the sugar content of alfalfa decrease as it ages?  Would 3 year old alfalfa be safe to feed an insulin-resistant horse.  I know the nutritional value DOES decrease --- but what about the sugar content?  The hay is still tasty and smells good -- no mold nor dust.

Thanks for your advice!
