Re: [RC] FEI - racing - riding - Europe - USA - Stefanie Prasch

Hello John,

i always have problems posting at ridecamp, so could you please add this
to the thread in my name.

i want to give some additional information on endurance riding in Europe,
in this case for Germany.

We have a very active, but still small endurance scene over here in
Germany. Most national rides are sanctioned by our national endurance
organization, only a few are FEI-sanctioned.
I think it is like 100 national rides and under 10 FEI-Rides.

The majority of german riders competes at the national rides and a lot of
them do it just to complete. there you have usually a speed limit of
4.66mph. we have some very nice multi-day-rides as well.
At the shorter distances (what would be LD for you) you also see a wide
range of breeds, from welsh pony or icelandic horse to a huge german
warmblood. the arabs are usually dominating though ;-)

There are people here who want to change the whole sports to bei
FEI-comparable, but there is also a huge fraction who wants the sport open
to everyone and see "to finish is to win" as their motto.

The national german endurance organization also uses the slogan: All
riders, all horses. Menas you can compete even with a horse that can't
race.

Happy trails
